Gheorghe Hagi has admitted that he has no idea when his son Ianis will play again.

The Ibrox mega-star suffered a serious knee injury against Stirling Albion in January and appears unlikely to play again this year.

With Joe Aribo sold to Southampton there is a distinct lack of creativity in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s midfield with Ryan Jack, John Lundstram, Steve Davis and Glen Kamara all viewed as defensive options.

Hagi has undergone the usual Ibrox hype but there won’t be a move to Real Madrid, Manchester City or Tottenham until he has proven his fitness on the park.

Daddy told The Sun:

All of the media in Romania were in a hurry and said that he will return in August or September.

That he will play for the national team in September, no problem. The truth is he will return when he is 100% ready. It was not easy at all for him.

He had a pretty serious injury but things are going very well at the moment and when there is an opportunity for him to get back playing he will get back playing. We will just have to see when it will be. I can’t put a date on his return.

Last season Hagi started 22 matches before injury halted his season in January.
