Ange Postecoglou is far from finished with the transfer market.

It is unprecedented for a Celtic manager to spend £17m in the transfer market before the first game of pre-season has been played.

Even Martin O’Neill never managed that as he put together a squad that delivered Celtic’s first treble in 30 years and lead to the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.

A year ago Liel Abada and Kyogo Furuhashi were signed while Celtic were in pre-season mode in Wales but this year FIVE deals have been completed with more to follow.

Loans for Daizen Maeda, Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers were made permanent while Ben Siegrist and Alexandro Bernabei were brought in.

Tom Rogic, Nir Bitton and Karamoko Dembele have moved on but speaking to The Sun, Postecoglou made it clear that more arrivals are on the way:

We identify targets and then make sure we take the time to get the ones we want, so that has been good.  It was very pleasing to get Jota and Cam on board permanently.  They were massive contributors last season and we think there is more in them.

To get them on-board is great and with Alexandro and Benjy coming in that helps with the quality across the board. We are definitely looking to bring in one or two more before the window closes.

Again it is about identifying what we want and making sure they fit all aspects and we working towards that. I still think there are one two areas where we need some more robustness in terms of the squad, just some quality in depth.

I wouldn’t expect too many but there are still one or two areas I’m looking to strengthen knowing what’s ahead for us.

Postecoglou has 35 players in Austria, tonight Celtic played their opening friendly, beating Wiener Viktoria 7-0. On Saturday they face Rapid Vienna.
