Rottweiler Kenny Macintyre goes all soft as he gets to question his hero Giovanni

After a seven year wait and a grovelling submission/apology BBC Scotland were back in the media fold at Murray Park today, allowed to question Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Given the honour of the first question was Ibrox diehard Kenny Macintyre, a man that looks almost as true blue as his name and sycophantic level of questioning.

Chummy chats with Barry (call me Baz) Ferguson gave Macintyre his break with the state broadcaster, in depth questions about a lively dressing room, big characters and night out provided the listener with exactly nothing of interest.

Over the last two years Kenny Mac has tried to brand himself as the rottweiler on the media pack, the reporter that asks the big questions that others shy away from.

A bad result for Celtic, Aberdeen or Hibs would see him in his element, always claiming that he was asking the questions that the fans travelling home in buses and cars wanted to ask.

Strangely, invited onto the Gio Zoom call the rottweiler turned into a Tom Cat, asking the softest of questions which brought about the blandest and most predictable of answers.

2 minutes 50 seconds

Kenny Macintyre: Giovanni, how would you compare the squad that you have at the start of this season with the squad that you finished last season with? Is it stronger, does it give you more options?

GvB: Ah, I think we have a very strong squad, you see the level we have in training, the competition we have for all places is really high and that is what you want when you have a team like Rangers so I’m happy with the competition that we have now and the quality in depth. So em, yep, I’m happy with the squad that we have at the moment.

What he really wanted was to know if Balon d’Or contenders Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo had been replaced by better players.

With a reported £30m plus coming in for the departed duo it seems that the manager has been short-changed by spreading £12m across seven signings.

Kenny Mac might also have wanted to know if Antonio Colak was ready to replace the European goals of Alfredo Morelos in the Champions League qualifiers against Union SG.

Tomorrow Sportsound will be presented live from Livingston where you-know-who are the visitors.

    Joe McHugh, THANK YOU.
The ‘interview’ from a/hole to Ange was just wonderful and, but for this site, I’d never have known that. Well, the PROOF of THAT.
We mostly ‘know’ that huns do what huns do (old or new) but proof-positive is ALWAYS worth having. Thank you.
