According to Anthony Joseph, Aaron Mooy has agreed a short term deal with Celtic.

Whether a short term deal is for one season or just through until the World Cup Finals in November is unclear.

Mooy hasn’t played any club football since January but played two full World Cup play-off matches within a week in June as Australia beat the UAE and Peru to book their place in the finals in Qatar.

The midfielder will require to be playing club football to be of worth to Socceroos boss Graham Arnold but Ange Postecoglou will be looking for more commitment to Celtic than simply to provide game time ahead of the World Cup Finals.

At 3.30pm today the Sky Sports News reporter tweeted:

UPDATE: Australia midfielder Aaron Mooy has agreed a short-term deal with Celtic, with the option of an extension. Once paperwork is completed, he will become the club’s fifth summer signing.

Late on Sunday night he tweeted:

Celtic are in talks with Australia midfielder Aaron Mooy. He’s a free agent after leaving Shanghai Port and discussions with the Scottish champions are said to be progressing well. He’s also held talks with EFL Championship clubs, including Norwich, Middlesbrough & Swansea.

After playing two full international matches in June Mooy’s fitness should be at a high standards but Postecoglou likes to get the absolute maximum out of all of his players.

Celtic play Legia Warsaw in a friendly tomorrow night, after that they only have weekend matches until the Champions League starts in the first midweek in September.

A year with a further years option .Sensible deal for a guy who will be 32 in September .I think that’s more accurate.Cabt see us just signing him until the world cup.Thst would be the closest b just getting a using.
