Smashed it! BBC Scotland go OTT to celebrate their return to the Ibrox media fold

BBC Scotland have quickly stepped up their pro-Ibrox news stream after officially backing down on their so-called seven year dispute.

With no known detail the state broadcaster, with resources far greater than any other media outlet, have simply repeated the message from inside the club about the fee received for Calvin Bassey. The record transfer fee has apparently been smashed…

With such a windfall there is very little news on how Giovanni van Bronckhorst will spend it, certainly no suggestion that the fee will be swallowed up by the pay off to Sports Direct for multiple breaches of contract.

No name is given against this story on the BBC website:

Calvin Bassey has completed his move to Ajax for a Rangers club record fee of £19.6m.

The Nigeria defender, 22, has signed a five-year deal with the Dutch champions, while add-ons could boost the sale by another £3m.

Bassey joined Rangers from Leicester City for a modest compensation fee in 2020 and emerged as a key player last season.

Rangers’ previous highest sale was £11.5m for Nathan Patterson.

Meanwhile van Bronckhorst faces a Champions League qualifier without Alfredo Morelos or Kemar Roofe- just like last season when they travelled to Malmo.
