It was a win-win clash today for Chris Sutton as he watched his first professional club visit the one that provided him with the most successful period of his career.

There was enough for Ange Postecoglou and Dean Smith to take from the match with the competitive action only a week away.

Kenny McLean’s early foul on Reo Hatate was a marker for what was to follow with both side’s close to full sharpness with Celtic dominating the first half.

Some great build up play looked like going without reward for the homeside but in the 36th minute Daizen Maeda showed plenty of imagination and confidence to back-heel Celtic into the lead.

After making seven substitutions in the 58th minute Celtic lost a bit of control but David Turnbull demonstrated his case for a starting place when he scored in the 67th minute with a sharp finish from a Giorgos Giakoumakis pass.

By the tone of his tweet Sutton isn’t so sure of a third Norwich promotion in five seasons, for Celtic the start of the new season can’t come quickly enough as Season Two of Postecoglou gets ready to roll.
