Two Spanish clubs linked with Ibrox ‘star’

After claims that Auxerre were keen to take Fashion Sakala on loan the Zambian ace is being linked with Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo. 

Despite the £60m (including add-ons, sell-ons and wishful thinking) windfall from selling Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey it seems that the word has gone out that the Ibrox club are keen to trim their wage bill. 

Sakala signed as a free agent from Oostende last summer, made a decent contribution them suffered the humiliation of going on as a substitute in the Europa League Final only to be replaced during extra-time. 

The fact that he was replaced by Aaron Ramsey only added to the embarrassment. 

Looking to drum up interest, Football Scotland reports: 

Fashion Sakala is set to snub the opportunity to leave Rangers on loan this summer amid interest from La Liga clubs. 

The Zambian international has interested parties keeping a watchful eye on his situation at Ibrox with Gers having brought in new recruits to challenge alongside Sakala for a spot in Gio van Bronckhorst’s starting XI. 

Football Scotland understands Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad have asked about the attacker this month but that, at the moment, is as far as things have got. It is also understood that the link to Auxerre in Ligue 1 is wide of the mark. 

A bidding war is highly unlikely.

Strangely, despite being out of contract in May, there seems to be absolutely no interest in signing Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander or Ryan Jack.
