Carl Starfelt is back to full fitness and ready for a return to action.

The defender was injured on international duty at the start of June, forcing him to miss all of Celtic’s pre-season matches.

Stephen Welsh has impressed playing alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers in central defence which gives Ange Postecoglou a pleasant dilemma as his squad evolves into the new season.

Starfelt discussed after 30 seconds

He is training, and he’s available. Obviously, we’ve just got to pick our moment to throw him back in there. He hasn’t played any competitive football yet, but he’s trained for his first full week and is available. So, I’ll just make a decision about whether we bring him back tomorrow or next week.

With half a dozen matches played together this season it seems unlikely that the partnership of Welsh and Carter-Vickers will be broken up tomorrow at Ross County- a venue that Starfelt was sent off at last December.

A place on the bench looks a realistic target for the Swede with Celtic probably looking to get a bounce game in next week to provide some match sharpness.

With Moritz Jenz also in the squad the return of Starfelt pushes Chris Jullien further out the picture with the Frenchman failing to make the bench for the SPFL opener against Aberdeen.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
