Ange Postecoglou responds to Manchester United speculation

Transfer

Ange Postecoglou has neatly side-stepped around speculation that Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing Josip Juranovic.

In midweek a report from England claimed that the Premiership duo were interested in the Croatian who joined Celtic a year ago from Legia Warsaw.

With a five year contract signed Celtic are in control of the situation but if bids come in at a certain level from leading English clubs there comes a point where talks begin.

Being part of the Croatian side that won away against France and Denmark at the start of June put the spotlight on Juranovic but his club manager is in no mood to tout for a move elsewhere.

Josip’s fit in really well. He had a strong season for us last year. Like the rest of the group, he’s come back this year looking to be better.

That’s our job – to make sure we keep improving these guys and challenging them. Josip is one of those players.

He’s got a big year ahead of him. Obviously, he’s got a World Cup to look forward to as well. I know he’s very, very motivated to do well for this football club. My role is to make sure we keep pushing these guys to be the best they can be.

The remaining 19 days of the transfer window are bound to contain more speculation about Juranovic, if he continues the form that he showed last season for club and country interest will only intensify.

With two players, Tony Ralston at right-back, throughout his squad Postecoglou has got Celtic into shape after just three transfer windows.

At some stage the hoops will resume selling players but the club will largely determine when that happens with the current squad mainly funded by the transfers of Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard a year ago.
