Ange Postecoglou has promised changes for tonight’s clash with Ross County.

The trip to Dingwall was about the worst possible fixture that Celtic could have got in the League Cup, coming second in a 10 day run that includes a Glasgow derby and Champions League tie with Real Madrid.

Celtic’s focus will be fully on tonight’s match but many of the players involved look like sitting out the next two matches with Livingston a week on Saturday their likely next outing.

Postecoglou has been bold with his use of substitutes in the five Premiership matches to date, speaking to the Daily Record the Celtic boss hinted strongly that tonight’s side will be much changed:

I will make some changes for the game, yeah. I haven’t settled on how many yet, but the important thing is that we put out a team that is still strong enough to win the game. Ross County is always a difficult place to go.

That being said, we won’t get back until the early hours of the next morning, and we have to factor in what is ahead at the weekend and beyond too. But we have to put out a team that can reach the required level to win what is a very important game for us, and I’m confident we have the players to do that.

Having built up a strong squad Postecoglou could make 11 changes tonight but that looks like a risk too far.

At Dundee United on Sunday there were three changes to the side that beat Hearts, five or six changes look likely tonight with momentum and keeping the core of the side together to progress in a competition that opened the door to last season’s title success.
