Less than 48 hours after being beaten 9-0 by Celtic The Sun is reporting that Jack Ross has been sacked by Dundee United.

At 10.40 on Tuesday morning there had been no announcement from the club but Robert Thomson, based on Tayside is very sure of his story.

He reports:

United chiefs held crisis talks yesterday before reaching the decision to part company with the ex-Sunderland, Hibs and St Mirren boss this morning.

Dundee United’s players were on a scheduled rest day, leaving space for club bosses to discuss the recent collapse in form without interrupting game prep.

The Tannadice side, who have shipped 24 goals during five losses in a nightmare 21-day period, face Livingston tomorrow night in the Premier Sports Cup.

Hat-tricks from Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada paved the way for a 9-0 victory for Ange Postecoglou’s men on Sunday – one of the biggest ever wins in Scottish top-flight football.

Celtic fans were unsurprisingly loving it, with some winding up United’s official Twitter account after they had posted a graphic of the full-time score.

Jack took his time before facing a round of media interviews following Sunday’s record defeat.

Coming soon after a 7-0 defeat away to AZ Alkmaar it would have taken a miracle for him to have survived both defeats.

Ross only took charge of United in the summer, now they are in the hunt for their fifth manager in four years with Tam Courts, Micky Melon, Robbie Neilson and Csaba Laszlo also recently in charge of the club.

UPDATE: United have now confirmed that Ross has been sacked.
