Jota’s goal for Celtic at Kilmarnock today carried even more significance for Benfica fans.

At the start of the week the Lisbon giants announced the death of Fernando Chalana, a genuine club legend who came to international attention at the 1984 European Championships.

After his playing days ended Chalana worked in a variety of roles at Benfica, encouraging Jota to be himself, to express himself on the pitch and maximise his potential.

At Celtic Jota has found his platform- with some envious eyes being cast towards Scotland from the Portuguese capital.

Three matches into the season the stats are looking very impressive. Three assists and two goals scored from an aggregate of 50 yards.

Stranger things have happened that Jota returning to Lisbon in the autumn on Champions League duty with Benfica looking to join Sporting in the group stage.
