Michael Appleton has confirmed Blackpool’s interest in Owen Moffat- without going overboard about signing the winger.

Moffat made a couple of Celtic first team appearances last December but with Ange Postecoglou strengthening the forward positions the 20-year-old has been left out of the picture.

Making the transition from Academy to first team is proving increasingly difficult with Moffat looking like joining Kerr McInroy, Ewan Henderson and others who have had to move on to develop their career.

Asked about interest in Moffat, Blackpool boss Appeleton told the Blackpool Gazette:

I believe it’s one from a development point of view. I haven’t had many conversations regarding it, if I’m being honest, other than if there was an opportunity would I back it and would I be in favour of it, and the answer was very much ‘yes’.

I don’t want to talk too much about other peoples’ players without having all the knowledge, but I’m aware of the player, I’m aware of the talent. If there was an opportunity and it came about, why wouldn’t we?

It looks like there is no first team place waiting for Moffat but the u-23 set up in England would be more beneficial than a second season playing in the Lowland League.
