Celtic fans will be allocated less than 2,000 tickets for each of their three Champions League away matches.

It is five years since the hoops were last involved in the competition, in 2017 there were around 10,000 Celtic supporters in the Allianz Arena to watch Brendan Rodgers’ side face up to Bayern Munich.

That absence has built up demand among supporters, after more than 10 trips to the San Siro, Milan and the Nou Camp, Barcelona the dream trip to Madrid has been confirmed for November 2.

Thousands of fans booked flights on Saturday morning as soon as the fixtures were announced but for most it looks like they’ll be watching in a Madrid bar as the group stage is concluded.

Yesterday, Celtic announced:

At this time, Celtic will receive 1,500 tickets from Shakhtar Donetsk for our game on matchday 2 (Wednesday, September 14), to be held in Poland at the Polish Army Stadium, Warsaw.

RB Leipzig have allocated around 2,200 tickets for our visit on matchday 3 (Wednesday, October 5), to their Red Bull Arena while, as communicated on Friday evening, Celtic will receive 1,800 tickets from Real Madrid for our visit to the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid on matchday 6 (Wednesday, November 2).

The expectation is that Real will have qualification completed before the final match which should ease demand from home fans for the fixture in the Bernabeu.

Last season travel restrictions meant that Celtic were only given an official allocation for the Europa League group tie away to Bayer Leverkusen even though fans travelled to the matches against Real Betis and Ferencvaros.
