Celtic are reported to be ready to sign Sead Haksabanovic for a knockdown fee of just £1.7m.

Detailed negotiations have been going on for over a week, after Celtic beat Hearts on Sunday Ange Postecoglou admitted that a deal was getting closer.

With one week left in the transfer window the clock is rapidly being run down with Russia side Rubin Kazan badly in need of funds following relegation and the UEFA sanctions that have followed the invasion of Ukraine. Haksabanovic has been training in Sweden with Djugarden during the summer.

Discussing Haksabanovic, the Daily Record reports:

He has not returned to Kazan for the new campaign, instead training with the Swedish side to keep up match fitness as he searched for a new club. Russian outlet Sport Business Gazeta claims these factors have forced Rubin to accept a €2million (£1.7million) offer from Celtic.

Last summer Celtic paid Rubin £4.5m for Carl Starfelt but the landscape has altered over the last 12 months.

Ange Postecoglou’s biggest issue will be assessing the fitness of the 23-year-old winger who hasn’t played a competitive match since early June when he was involved in Nations League qualifiers for Montenegro.

Aaron Mooy arrived at Celtic in similar circumstances, making substitute appearances in each of the first four Premiership matches as he looks to get his match fitness to the same level as his new team-mates.
