Celtic striker makes loan move

After joining Queens Park on loan this morning Johnny Kenny made a 90th minute appearance for the Spiders in their 2-1 win away at Arbroath.

The striker joined Celtic in January from Sligo Rovers, after a couple of outings in the Lowland League he will now get a proper test in The Championship where Owen Coyle’s side are going for a third successive promotion.

Professionalism has been warmly embraced by Queens Park who have one of the biggest budgets in the division and are a point behind leaders Ayr United with four matches played.

In previous seasons Celtic have signed and hung onto Jonathan Afolabi and Joey Dawson, getting Kenny out for proper games and playing time should accelerate his development although there are no guarantees with Queens where Coyle can call on Simon Murray, Don Thomas, Louis Longridge and Ibrox loanee Josh McPake in attack.

Next Saturday Queens host Cove Rangers at their temporary home of Ochilview, Stenhousemuir.
