Celtic Underground has dropped a hint that Connor Barron could still be a transfer target.

The midfielder was first linked with Celtic during the June u-21 international matches but hasn’t played in any of Aberdeen’s five matches this season due to injury.

Barron was one of the few successes at Aberdeen last season, kicking on from being out on loan at Kelty Hearts for the first half of the season while most others at Pittodrie had a miserable time forcing the sacking of Stephen Glass.

Asked yesterday about Barron, Jim Goodwin told the Press and Journal:

We hope to have him back with the group in another three weeks, probably. He had a slight medial ligament issue on his knee.

It happened in the friendly against Buckie Thistle. He went into a silly tackle and twisted his knee, but it’s nothing major.

There doesn’t seem to be any immediate opening at Celtic for Barron, if a transfer was agreed it would seem an option to loan him back to Aberdeen even if that was to upset some of their supporters.

In June Celtic signed Ben Siegrist as a free agent which shows that Ange Postecoglou is closely watching the domestic scene for recruitment purposes.
