Connor Goldson hits back at abusive Ibrox fans

Connor Goldson has lashed out at Ibrox fans slaughtering John Souttar following his debut at Livingston on Saturday.

The former Hearts defender lasted 67 minutes outside of his comfort zone before Govanni van Bronckhorst replaced him after 65 minutes.

Souttar was badly at fault when Joel Nouble turned him on the 18 yard line then lobbed Jon McLaughlin to give Livi the lead after just five minutes.

It didn’t get much better over the next hour as journeyman Nouble rag-dolled his opponent who looked distressed as he left the pitch.

I’ve been really impressed with Souttar. You see his quality every day in training. I was really disappointed on Saturday seeing a lot of criticism after one game, I’ve been there myself I have no doubts at all he will be an unbelievable signing for this football club.

John is an international player and we know how good a player we have signed. We know the pressure that comes at Rangers but people can’t judge a player after one game at Livingston which is not the easiest place to go. I look forward to playing with him more

With the Ibrox stars protected from media intrusion Goldson can only be referring to the reaction to Souttar from fans inside the Toni Macaroni Stadium.

Hopefully van Bronckhorst sticks with Soappy for tomorrow’s Champions League qualifier away to Union SG.
