After at least two weeks of negotiating it seems that Celtic and Rubin Kazan have agreed to the permanent transfer of Sead Haksabanovic.

Most of the detail on the story has emerged from Sweden where the 23-year-old has spent the summer with his future in limbo.

Haksabanovic joined Rubin in July of last year but since then the football landscape has changed with Russian clubs virtually frozen off from the outside world due to the invasion of Ukraine.

Djurgarden took the winger on loan but that was never going to be a long term solution but with two weeks left in the transfer window it appears that almost everything has been signed off to make the Montenegrin internationalist as Celtic player.

The Times reports:

Vladislav Zimagulov, a Russian transfer expert, said: “Rubin have agreed to sell Haksabanovic to Celtic. The clubs will agree a fully fledged transfer, and not a loan.

“Two weeks ago it was written that negotiations between Celtic and Rubin did not work out allegedly because of difficulties with financial transactions. Now the clubs are close to an agreement and, apparently, have reached a compromise.”

Despite making seven signings during the summer Ange Postecoglou has been adamant that there was still scope for more movement in the transfer window. At around £5m Haksabanoic would be a major addition to the Celtic squad that will discover their Champions League opponents a week today.
