Yesterday afternoon there were regulars goal updates from Anfield.

Reports of Liverpool’s demise, with two points from three matches, appeared to be exaggerated as Jugen Klopp’s side stuck nine goals past Bournemouth.

Mo Salah wasn’t on the scoresheet but that barely mattered as Liverpool belatedly got their season up and running although they are trailing Arsenal and Manchester City by some distance.

Updates from Tannadice were fairly regular throughout lunchtime, when Celtic went in 4-0 up at half-time it was clear that thoughts of Liverpool were in the mind of the players and certainly the fans.

By the hour mark Celtic were on seven goals, Ange Postecoglou had made three substitutes with Liel Abada allowed a reprieve to complete his hat-trick before being replaced.

Carl Starfelt completed the scoring in the 81st minute when he made it 9-0 with Lineker noting the scoreline ahead of his stint with BT Sport presenting coverage of the Champions League.
