Glasgow derby referee Nick Walsh and the clear Conflict of Interest

Nick Walsh’s appointment for Saturday’s Glasgow derby has barely been commented on.

With Bobby Madden’s private life taking him to Accrington and Hartlepool while Willie Collum and Kevin Clancy are untouchable the SFA have suddenly seen their talent pool of refereeing shrink.

Andrew Dallas seems to have disappeared but could well be heading up the VAR department, drawing on the vast experience and connections of his Daddy.

With all that in mind it seems that Walsh and John Beaton were the only two referees in contention for Saturday’s match.

Throughout this week Walsh will be working at Boclair Academy which has a special relationship with the football club based at Murray Park.

Anywhere outside of Scotland they wouldn’t allow such a clear conflict of interest, fortunately in Scotland Celtic and the other clubs are quite relaxed to have Walsh in charge of their matches while indirectly working for a competitor Monday to Friday.

If Walsh wanted to continue his refereeing career he could switch the day job to another school where only his footballing judgement would be called into question.

Over the last 18 months Michael O’Halloran, Callum McGregor, Ryan Porteous, Stephen O’Donnell and Josh Ginnelly have all been sent off against the Ibrox club.

Like his day job it seems that the red card pattern in Walsh’s career is free from media scrutiny.

This continues because the Celtic board allows it to.

Walsh books players for fouls that sevco players committing the same fouls would get away with.

It will keep happening until Celtic ( and others ) speak out.

Walsh cannot be allowed anywhere near a sevco game.

    Formal complaint.

Using the term “talent pool” in any article related to SPFL referees is ridiculous!

    🙂

And another thing ! Why was the Rangers cup game against QOTS ,played on Tuesday and the Celtic cup tie on Wednesday ? The Glasgow derby is on Saturday ,obviously, which means the mad mob get an extra day to recover from their exertions .so don’t ever let me hear of the Rangers being hard done by ,from the governing bodies again . Notice how there’s no harumphing from the SMSM on this one ! All cup ties should have been played on the same night, in the case of fairness. Oh,no, there’s that ‘f ‘ bomb again!!!!

All the bitching in the world won’t change a thing.
Our board are shit scared of sevco as they will play the 5 Way Agreement card should they even try to rock the boat so get used to it.
It’s a RIGGED game and set up we are watching get used to it.
60,000 crowds week in week out certainly ain’t going to encourage our club to do something about it.

If the Celtic Board don’t call out a clear conflict of interests such as this, then they are hardly fit for purpose! And what else are they ignoring as well?

And all those fancy claims and promises made by Desmond not so long ago are starting to look rather empty. I wouldn’t buy paper roses, myself!
