Hello Mate! Team mates pile on as Starfelt breaks his duck

Carl Starfelt’s lack of a scoring record appears to have been the subject of some dressing room humour.

The defender got through 49 matches last season without finding the net while the goals were flowing all around.

Josip Juranovic chipped in a few penalties, Tony Ralston started last season in Golden Boot form, Stephen Welsh headed in a couple, Greg Taylor found the net at Hampden while Cameron Carter-Vickers possibly scored the most important SPFL goal of the season.

Celtic fans never got to see how Starfelt celebrated but yesterday, 20 minutes after replacing Moritz Jenz he finally found the net.

Goalkeeper Sam Walker did well to get a touch onto a header from Carter-Vickers, Starfelt’s rebound was also blocked but at there was no third save as the Swede popped the ball into the net.

‘HELLO MATE’ was the message from team mates Joe Hart and Giorgos Giakoumakis with Starfelt off the mark for the season.
