Giovanni van Bronckhorst has admitted that he doesn’t know the rules for awarding penalties but that the one awarded against his side was cheap.
The Dutchman was being offered all sorts of excuses for his team’s defeat to Union SG when he made the comment.
Trailing 1-0 at the time the shot from a Union forward was blocked by Ben Davies, as it flew back towards the Union striker the arm of Connor Goldson deflected the ball clear.
After a four minute delay while the incident was assessed and the referee viewed on a pitch-side screen a penalty was awarded with Jon McLaughlin jumping the wrong way as Union went into a 2-0 lead.
?“I don’t know what the rules are but it looks like a really cheap penalty.”
Asked Giovanni van Bronckhorst for his thoughts on the VAR penalty call ?

Van Bronckhorst had nothing to say in May when Goldson got away with one in the Europa League Final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
If I was a hun I’d be dismayed that my manager doesn’t understand the proper rules of the game. Then again, if I was a hun, I wouldn’t know the proper rules either as the hun understanding of the game is “Durr boot every bassa until the maso…er, ref, gies us wur pennulteh!”
Fuds.
Livingston were robbed of a good goal and a penalty at ipox. so you see what happens when you get a proper referee and not a corrupt sfa referee what goes around comes around.
