Giorgos Giakoumakis opened his scoring account for the season in spectacular fashion at Kilmarnock today.

The points were already secure but in the 82nd minute the Greek striker made his mark with a spectacular overhead kick that took Killie goalkeeper Sam Walker by surprise.

Last season Giakoumakis scored one SPFL goal before Christmas on his way to a tally of 14 as the title was delivered.

With a full pre-season and an earlier start he could be heading for 20 plus as he competes with Kyogo Furuhashi for a striking place and the to goal-scorer tag.

Last season all but one of his 17 goals were one touch finishes, today he set off on the same path with an eye-catching goal that will be hard to better.

With two of the first three matches away from home Ange Postecoglou’s side are off and running with a 100% record and superior goal difference to their city rivals.

Perfect day when the best players in Scotland (by a country mile) get on the scoresheet…dare I say-feel like we could form an orderly Q to collect from Patrick Power right now…

Didn’t he take 2 touches for his 2nd against Motherwell?

Editor: Yes, every other goal was one touch.
