A rumour that Tom Lawrence has suffered a knee injury is concerning Ibrox fans.

The Welshman signed a lucrative deal as a free agent in the summer following Derby’s relegation to League One.

Already this season he has started seven matches and made two substitute appearances but if the rumours stand up he is looking at missing the next couple pf matches.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has already lost Ben Davies and Sick Note Souttar to injury, if Lawrence is ruled out for any length of time his squad depth comes into question.

Over the course of 10 days his side face Celtic, Ajax and Aberdeen away from home before welcoming Napoli to Ibrox in the club’s first ever Champions League home match.

Apart from Lawrence and Antonio Colak the other summer signings have made little impact with Rabbi Matondo’s football ability being compared to Usain Bolt rather than his blistering pace over 20 metres.
