Kyogo Furuhashi can’t wait to get going in the Champions League.

It is five years since Celtic last featured in the competition with Callum McGregor likely to be the only survivor from that last campaign.

While Celtic have been transformed in that time the standard required in the Champions League has steadily increased with the first three pots brimming with the strongest clubs in the game.

Eintracht Frankfurt are about the only weak link in those first three pots with Celtic almost certain to find themselves facing up to clubs from the four major leagues that supply the bulk of the teams in the Champions League.

After a very domestic start to the season the autumn will almost certainly see Celtic face sides from the EPL, La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga with Kyogo looking forward to watching Thursday’s draw.

Asked who he wanted to play against the striker told The Sun:

I could say the name of a lot of teams — Barcelona, Manchester City, Real Madrid or Liverpool. Woah!

There are so many great names in the competition. I’d love to play in these games for Celtic and create goals.

The most important thing is that whoever we play against, we play our football and we achieve victories.

Everyone is excited about the Champions League both collectively as a team and individually as players. Playing in these games is how you grow, both as a team and as players.

They are important and we will have to prepare for them the best way possible. So we know those days will come, which is great. Until then we have to focus on the challenges we have.

The final places in the Champions League will be decided on Wednesday with Benfica, PSV Eindhoven and Bodo Glimt in contention to join Celtic.
