The Daily Record is continuing to link Celtic with a move for Mohammad Abu Fani of Maccabi Haifa.

Last month Ange Postecoglou signed Aaron Mooy to add to his existing midfield options of Callum McGregor, James McCarthy, David Turnbull, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.

It appears to be a very well stocked area of the team with Liam Shaw and Scott Robertson also on call if required that.

Updating their readers on Celtic’s transfer plans the Record reports:

A midfield enforcer appears to have been high on Postecoglou’s wish list this summer, and Mohammad Abu Fani looks to have become a live option. The Maccabi Haifa star has been watched by Parkhead scouts on several occasions.

The Israeli side are now reportedly keen to offload the midfielder. Israeli outlet Sport One state that the club want to use Abu Fani’s fee to fund the remainder of their transfer business.

The report states that Haifa boss Barak Becher wants to add “one or two” players in key areas. However, this will only be possible if “Abu Fani fulfils his dream and finds a team overseas.”

There may of course be something in the interest but despite regular access to Ange Postecoglou at media conference it seems that no one has asked about the links to Fani.

Last Friday Postecoglou ruled out moves for Alex Collado and Bamba Dieng during his broadcast conference.

With two weeks to go Postecoglou is still looking to add to his squad but after two months of speculation there doesn’t appear to be any movement towards signing the Maccabi Haifa midfielder.
