With speculation that he will be leaving Celtic on loan this month Mikey Johnston has returned to Instagram after more than two months without posting.
With no comment the winger shared an image in the black Celtic away kit which looks like it was taken in the pre-season friendly away to Rapid Vienna.
Johnston has been missing from Celtic’s 20 man matchday squad for the first two competitive matches of the season.
Ange Postecoglou has spoken of the need for the 22-year-old to get some regular football under his belt. With Jota, Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda backed up by James Forrest it is highly unlikely that Johnston or any other winger will get much game time with Celtic.
Standard Liege have been strongly linked to signing Johnston on loan but there doesn’t appear to be any concrete offers on the table.
With a contract that runs until May 2025 Johnston will be back at Celtic next summer regardless of how any loan spell works out.

I do like Mikey, he has had a couple of setbacks with injury and as a result I feel he needs to get away from the Celtic spotlight for a while. The kid has lots of talent and needs to be playing regular games. It worked for others, it can do the same for him. Hope he can recharge and be all he can be.
