The chief Manchester United reporter of the Manchester Evening News is reporting Old Trafford interest in Matt O’Riley.

It seems highly unlikely that the midfielder will leave Celtic this week but Manchester United are expected to be heavily involved in transfer business before the window closes in England at midnight on Wednesday.

Samuel Luckhurst, with 459,000 Twitter followers, reports in the MEN:

Manchester United are scouting Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley only eight months after his transfer from MK Dons.

O’Riley, 21, moved from MK to Celtic for £1.5million in January and has already caught the eye of United, who are understood to be monitoring his development in the Scottish Premiership.

The midfielder is under contract with Celtic until 2026 but his form since the turn of the year has earned him a call up to the Danish u-21 squad with a World Cup place in Qatar the target.

After settling in at Celtic the midfielder is unlikely to be in a rush to move but if his form continues interest and monitoring his progress is certain to develop into bids being made.

Celtic will be reluctant to sell but equally know that the current squad was funded by the sales of Odsonne Edouard and Kris Ajer, that cycle is likely to continue with just the timing to be decided.
