The Celtic song book has never been short of options, since the early sixties when You’ll Never Alone was added the list of songs has evolved and meandered over the course of time.

The Fields of Athenry was added in the eighties, the bleak early nineties even saw Always Look On The Bright Side aired as trophies and success became more and more evasive.

Since 2016 Grace has become a favourite of the fans inside Celtic Park, a stirring ballad from the Irish Revolution.

Just after 4pm on Sunday Liam McGrandles started up pitchside with Grace, pretty soon he had the whole stadium singing in unison.

Suddenly the pre-match build up was hiked up a few gears, it wasn’t a background song, late on a summer’s afternoon in Glasgow’s east end the best part of 60,000 people were united in song and gearing up for another chapter in Ireland’s most visible weekly export- Celtic Football Club.

What a memorable way to precede the match at Celtic Park! The whole stadium joined in and it was hair-raising stuff. I hope this is repeated from time to time – a real goosebump moment in time. Hail, hail.
