Report gives detailed breakdown as Celtic move to sign 23-year-old international

Celtic are reported to be in negotiations to sign Sead Haksabanovic. 

The 23-year-old winger is still contracted to Rubin Kazan but with Russian football in limbo Haksabanovic has been training in his native Sweden during the summer. 

Players such as Jordan Larsson have been able to negotiate their release from Russian clubs but it seems that Rubin are wanting to hold on to their Montenegrin internationalist and would prefer to send him out on a season long loan. 

Swedish publisher Sport Bladet reports: 

DjurgArden still hopes for Sead Haksabanovic – but according to Sportbladet’s information, there may now be a move to Scottish Celtic after all. 

According to informed sources, the Champions League club is making another attempt to sign the 23-year-old. 

It was a few weeks ago that the Russian newspaper Sport-Express reported that Celtic tried to sign Sead Haksabanovic from Rubin Kazan. The player has not yet broken his contract and is trying to break free from Russia. 

But at the moment, the club prefers to sell the player and that he is thus bought out of his contract instead of going on a season-long loan, as most other foreign players have done. But two weeks ago Celtic’s signing attempt failed and the player is now training on his own. 

According to Sportbladet’s Scottish information, Celtic are now making a new attempt to try to release the player from Rubin Kazan and get him into the team building as soon as possible. Celtic is also Haksabanovic’s main track and the opportunity to play in the Champions League and to win titles attracts the 23-year-old. 

Just over a year ago Celtic and Rubin negotiated the transfer of Carl Starfelt but this one could be more complex. 

With just over two weeks to go until the transfer window closes the stakes are being raised as clubs and players realise that time and options are running out. 

Celtic appear to be well off for wide players but with Ange Postecoglou constantly looking to raise the bar there could be another arrival before August 31,
