Celtic have revived their interest in Dylan Reid.

After having an offer accepted by St Mirren the midfielder held talks with the hoops but decided to stay with the Paisley club.

Promises of a clearer path to first team football convinced Reid to stay put but with just one substitute appearance to his name it seems that talks with Celtic have been resumed.

The 17-year-old has been a regular Scotland internationalist but if a deal can be agreed this week he could be lining up against Real Madrid next week in the UEFA Youth LeaguE.

The Sun reports:

CELTIC have moved to reignite their interest in St Mirren kid Dylan Reid.

The Buddies’ Scotland Under-19 midfielder turned down an offer to join the Hoops earlier this summer. But SunSport understands a six-figure deal could now be back ON.

Hugely talented Reid, 17, opted to stay with the Paisley club and fight for more first-team experience after initial talks with Celts recruitment chiefs.

But his only appearances under Stephen Robinson this season have come in the Premier Sports Cup.

And there have been fresh talks over his future with last season’s Premiership champions coming back to the table.

It’s believed discussions between the two clubs and the player’s representatives have kicked off again. It’s become a complex situation with nothing concrete as yet.

But with talks ongoing it’s possible an agreement could be completed before Thursday’s midnight transfer deadline.

Celtic have been relatively quiet in the transfer market of younger players with Irish goalkeeper Josh Clarke the only notable signing.

Going in against the best u-19 players in Europe will be a very different challenge to facing Dalbeattie Star and Stirling University.

If Reid can be persuaded to sign it would suggest that a convincing case of a route to first team football has been put to the teenager.
