Matt O’Riley has no intention of turning his back on Celtic with the Champions League just over a week away.

At the turn of the year the midfielder was attracting some attention while playing for MK Dons.

Barely six months into a five year contract at Celtic he is being linked with Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.

It looks highly unlikely that O’Riley will see out his Celtic contract but with his game progressing in the right direction he is happy to push a high profile move to the back of his mind.

Speaking to Danish site Bold, O’Riley said:

Yes, there are some of the clubs that have inquired about me. However, I cannot say which clubs they are.

But even though it’s great to know that there is a lot of interest in me, I only have one thing in mind, and that is to do well for Celtic.

I have no plans to leave Celtic, so if nothing happens then nothing happens and that’s perfectly fine. I am really happy to be at the club, where we will also be playing in the Champions League, which I am really looking forward to. It’s huge.

I’m surprised by the interest from those clubs, so it’s crazy to think about if something were to happen. But if it doesn’t become more concrete, then it’s just news to me.

So I am aware and have heard of the interest from some of the big clubs, but I have to admit that it is not something that I think too much about

The interest in O’Riley again highlights Ange Postecoglou’s eye for a player. When Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard were sold last summer there was virtually no value left in the Celtic squad, now there are perhaps half a dozen players that would attract bids of £20m from EPL clubs.

Impressing in the Champions League will only increase the interest in Celtic players but with Postecoglou calling the shots you get the feeling that departures will be on favourable terms with replacements either at the club or identified and keen to join the club.
