The Scottish Daily Express has come up with another good news story for their friends at Ibrox.

A year after moving to Ibrox as a free agent it seems that Fashion Sakala is a £3m transfer target for Burnley.

The obvious link is that Vincent Kompany managed Anderlecht and is a long term fan of the former Oostende striker.

The Express is part of the Reach group, pooling resources with the Daily Record and attempting to build a digital audience from the same target audience.

Sakala hasn’t played a minute of competitive football since being substituted by Aaron Ramsey in the final of the Europa League. This summer Antonio Colak, Rabbi Matondo, Tom Lawrence and Malik Tillman have moved ahead of the Zambian internationalist but apparently Sakala’s value has shot up with offers starting at £3m.

The Express reports:

Rangers are set to be tested with a move from Burnley for Fashion Sakala and it is understood the Championship side are ready to offer £3million.

There is major uncertainty over Sakala this season given the recruitment that Gio van Bronckhorst has made this summer with the capture of Antonio Colak and attackers Rabbi Matondo, Malik Tillman and Tom Lawrence as well as the return of Alfredo Morelos with Kemar Roofe also to come back in the coming weeks.

Sakala featured in both the Europa League Final and the Scottish Cup Final last season and scored 12 goals overall in 50 appearances – including a left foot strike against Celtic – after he was signed from Oostende in 2021 by Steven Gerrard.

In May the Express double counted the UEFA pay-out for the Europa League, despite being corrected by Swiss Rambler they kept their loyal readers in the dark.

Notice how all monies gathered by the Rangers for Europe qualification reported by haemorrhoids, so sorry, tabloids, are all in Euros and not pounds ,of which is our currency. Makes the total sum look larger I suppose!
