Two weeks before facing Celtic David Martindale is predicting that the hoops are capable of repeating Sunday’s 9-0 hammering of Dundee United.

The Livingston manager is ever shy about promoting himself in the media, today he was promoting Wednesday’s League Cup tie against Jack Ross’s side.

On the back of a 7-0 and a 9-0 defeat within the space of three weeks the pressure is mounting on the Dundee United boss although he only took charge of the club during the summer.

Managers are normally protective of their counterparts but it seems that Martindale was overlooking his side’s match on September 10 when he told The Herald:

That will not be the last time Celtic do that to teams. Dundee United will be coming here with a point to prove and that will make our job even more difficult.

I know some of their players, I know the coaching staff and there is no way on earth they are going to take that lying down. It’s going to make our job very, very difficult.

If I’m honest, I’d rather Dundee United were coming here with a wee bit of complacency, which will definitely not be the case.

But I don’t think Dundee United will be the last team that Celtic do something very, very similar to this season.

Livingston have their own problems to deal with on the back of a 5-0 defeat away to Aberdeen on Saturday.

A win away to Dundee United in the SPFL was the first of five that have put the spotlight on Ross who lost his job as Hibs manager following a defeat at Livingston last year even though he had taken his side into the final of the League Cup.

On the eve of the new season Motherwell mutually consented with Graham Alexander.

Martinsdale should get odds on Celtic scoring nine away from home again this season. He wouldn’t find them favourable! But I don’t think he’s the kind who measures his comments well, before opening his mouth!

Things can’t get any worse for Ross. So there’s no point in sacking him. Give the guy time to turn it around. He might surprise some people.

Livingston manager who sucked up Gerrard arse and applauded rANGERs every time they scored against his own team. WEASEL
