Ahead of Sunday’s match against Celtic, Jack Ross has been lavishing praise on opposite number Ange Postecoglou.

Three weeks ago the Dundee United boss seemed to be on top of his game following his side’s 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Conference but since then nothing has gone right at Tannadice.

In the return leg United were lucky to keep the scoreline in single figures, following that up with defeats to Hearts and St Mirren has left United in joint bottom spot with pressure piling up on Jack who was appointed in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou came through a few sticky results at the start of his tenure at Celtic to win two trophies, importantly he seems to have connected with other managers who have tapped into his wealth of experience from three continents and a spell in international management.

Jack has plenty of issues to deal with inside Tannadice but discussing Sunday’s direct opponent he told The Courier:

He has done it in a style that has been bold and attractive. People are enjoying watching his teams.

I’ve enjoyed my conversations I with Ange; I enjoy the way he views the game, and even how he sees life.

I have always taken note of what top managers do in this country and in other countries —how they coach and prepare teams.

We all have thoughts on how the game should be played and I have enjoyed watching his teams. I have also enjoyed the challenge of trying to cause his teams problems.

Jack was in charge of Hibs for one match against Celtic, despite reaching the League Cup Final he was sacked before the Hampden clash that delivered Postecoglou’s first trophy.

Celtic enjoyed two 3-0 wins at Tannadice last season before clinching the SPFL title with a 1-1 draw in May, another 3-0 defeat and Jack will find the pressure really mounting.
