Mark Hateley last night branded Antonio Colak a waste of space!

That is the sort of abuse that can get broadcasters banned from Ibrox but the former club ambassador wasn’t sparing anyone’s feelings as he sat in the Radio Scotland studio watching the Tribute Act getting pumped by Union SG.

The Belgian side were playing their first European tie in 58 years with their rundown stadium forcing them to take the tie 15 miles away to Leuven.

PAOK reject Colak was given the superstar treatment when he moved to Ibrox, the phrase Croatian international star was heavily used for the 28-year-old with three international appearances to his name.

There were warning signs at Livingston on Saturday that all wasn’t well, last night their opponents weren’t managed by an obliging Ibrox fan-boy with Union brushing aside the threat of the Croatian international star to take a 2-0 lead into the second leg.

Alarm bells were ringing in the BBC Scotland studio, Richard Gordon couldn’t keep a lid on things with the post-match analysis a scatter-gun attack on Mister van Bronckhorst’s stars.

At 22.20 in last night’s Radio Scotland coverage of the defeat from Union SG, Hateley said:

You could see a second goal coming all second half. Then you worry about the third goal. Colak, for me, was a waste of time. If Morelos is playing there, the ball goes into him. Colak didn’t demand the ball.

At the end of the day, Rangers are very, very lucky to come away with a 2-0 defeat.

At 21.45

It was a poor, poor show. Weak and blunt. We don’t even know if Union’s back three are any good. Is the goalkeeper any good? We don’t know. Union figured Rangers out after 25 minutes.

Despite years of loyal service Hateley had his ambassador salary removed during Lockdown, now he is forced to join the growing band of former Ibrox players picking up easy fees from the state broadcaster.
