Covering live football is something of a rarity for BBC Scotland.
Wooden enough at the best of times ‘St Mirren’ fan Steven Thompson was required to feign some interest in one of his former clubs, Dundee United, as they took a 1-0 lead away to AZ Alkmaar.
It was a grim night for Jack Ross in the dug-out but almost as bad for Thommo in the BBC studio as he provided his half-time analysis with United trailing 5-0 with four of the goals coming in the 15 minutes before half-time.

Thommo and the team will be back in the studio on Saturday providing their special presentation skills to the Premiership fixtures.
Oh dear as keep saying he is the DAFTIE that got the GIG think of who got knocked back because they were worse than him.
Well, of course, faced with the truth,Big Thommo simply has to get a second opinion before committing himself. It could have been a case of Five quick goals and we’re right back in it, but alas, it wasn’t to be!
… and never ask a guy with glasses a daft question!
