Ange Postecoglou has distanced himself with speculation linking Celtic with Alex Collado.

The initial report from Spain suggested that the hoops were among the clubs showing interest in the Barcelona midfielder who seems certain to leave the Nou Camp this month.

At the age of 23 Collado doesn’t fall into the project category with his attacking skills and versatility similar to Matt O’Riley and David Turnbull.

The legs in the story all came from Spain, asked by Sky Sports about the Collado link Postecoglou wasn’t offering any encouragement.

Look, If I was going to speak about every player we would be here all year – whilst the window is open.

We have done most of our business, the stuff we have needed to do we have done but we will stay active, there’s still possibilities of guys moving out.

We’re still keen to bring one or two in but they have to be the right ones. Anyone who has been linked to us it is not coming from us – as I said we will stay active the next couple of weeks and see how things go.

Celtic have brought in seven players this summer with the impact diluted by three of the deals involving players that were on loan last season.

Alexandro Bernabei, Benji Siegrist and Moritz Jenz have given Postecoglou two strong options in every position with all of the business completed before the SPFL opener at home to Aberdeen.

With just over a fortnight left in the transfer window it looks unlikely that any major business will be completed as Postecoglou takes his squad into the Champions League.
