Ally McCoist put aside his cheeky chappie routine as he watched the Ibrox Tribute Act taken apart by Ajax.

There wasn’t a single gag from the media darling as he sat suffering alongside Kenny Miller as the pictures and goals came in from Amsterdam.

From the first few minutes the home side dominated, in the 17th minute they took the lead through a Alvarez header as James Tavernier and Connor Goldson marked each other.

By half-time Ajax were three goals in front, the scoreline flattered the visitors with McCoist and Miller letting rip at half time.

After losing to Celtic a reaction was expected, van Bronckhorst made one change with a similarly heartless display served up.

Ajax cruised through the second half, scoring once from a Ryan Jack assist. Afterwards McCoist piled in again, questioning the attitude of van Bronckhorst’s players which is about the biggest slur that can be aimed at a professional.
