Ange Postecoglou brushes aside the claims of Daily Record management specialist

Image for Ange Postecoglou brushes aside the claims of Daily Record management specialist

After being informed of the views of a former Alloa Athletic manager Ange Postecoglou appears to be unaffected.

Giving Daily Record readers an insight into football management, Barry Ferguson explained that ‘big Ange’ only knew one way to play the game while Giovanni van Bronckhorst could play four different systems within one match.

That could well be true but you don’t get any trophies for having more systems than your opponent.

What is more relevant is that when van Bronckhorst took charge at Ibrox his club was four points ahead of Celtic, increased that to six going into the new year then finished four points behind Postecoglou’s champions.

This season Celtic are two points in front, after five matches they have a goal difference of plus 20 while their city rivals are on plus 11.

Ferguson might have been trying to stir up controversy and make himself relevant, replying to the Daily Record Postecoglou made it almost impossible for the ex Alloa boss to find a way back into the professional game:

That’s okay. Barry’s entitled to his opinion. He gets asked these questions and if that’s what he believes then that’s what he believes. What does it mean to me? I don’t know. I really have no idea. It doesn’t affect me.

With 20 players starting in his side’s last two victories Postecoglou has more to think about than the claims of the guy that won 10 out of 34 matches in League One with Alloa.
