Ange Postecoglou is counting down the days to get Celtic back in action.

The new season had been going in almost text-book fashion until his team clocked in at Paisley on Sunday.

An injury to Cameron Carter-Vickers, resting Josip Juranovic and a too much rotation against very physical opponents turned the match into a perfect storm as the hoops lost their first SPFL Premiership match in 12 months.

Postecoglou took the blame in public, didn’t throw his players under the bus and is planning the comeback against Motherwell a week on Saturday.

The Celtic boss is currently in Australia but even in the middle of a Champions League campaign and promoting the Sydney Super Cup his thoughts are still on Sunday lunchtime in Paisley.

Covering his Australian media conference, the Daily Record reports Postecoglou saying:

I don’t take losses well, never have, be it my first job at South Melbourne or now. If I knew we were going to win all the time I’d get bored of it pretty quickly. We’ve got to sit on it for a couple of weeks but at the same time we’ve been on an extraordinary run.

The players have been unbelievable over the last 15-16 months with the progress we’ve made and this is just part of it. Learn from it, grow from it and come back stronger.

Between the Motherwell match on October 1 and the World Cup break Celtic have 13 matches across three competitions.
