Celtic are light years ahead- the penny drops with Derek Clark

The problem with fan media is that you can’t really have a foot in two camps.

Being inside the tent, getting access for bland interviews and whispers about transfer gossip might provide a warm glow but there are also tougher, more challenging times.

When you are fed the party line that the squad is in great shape, that the manager is happy and the garden is rosy a 4-0 humiliation from your rivals is impossible to brush aside.

Fan media hurts, sometimes to the point where they have to go off message and admit the truth.

Trying to convince your subscribers that John Lundstram, Steve Davis and Glen Kamara form a smooth running midfield machine doesn’t wash. Putting on Scott Wright at half time was utterly pointless. Jon McLaughlin is bang average and over the hill, etc etc etc.

The supporters know it, fan media can spin the line from inside the club and lose all credibility or they can tell it as it is.

Clark is the face of Rangers Review, part of the Newsquest Group alongside The Herald, Glasgow Times and The Celtic Way.
