Anthony Joseph has claimed that Celtic are open to offers for James McCarthy to go out on loan.
It would seem late in the day to be sending out that message with the midfielder in action last night as a substitute away to Ross County.
McCarthy was signed at the same time as Joe Hart but while the ex-Spurs goalkeeper has revived his career the former Crystal Palace man has slipped out of the reckoning at Celtic.
Since signing his contract McCarthy has looked on as Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, Matt O’Riley and Aaron Mooy have joined Celtic with Olliver Abildegaard on his way from Rubin Kazan.

After more than a decade down south, joining Celtic was viewed as a homecoming for McCarthy, how keen he is to return to playing in The Championship isn’t known.
Albian Ajeti and Chris Jullien have left Celtic over the last week but with three years left on his contract McCarthy is in a different situation.
