Celtic fans could be in for an early boost from the new Sky Sports deal which allows clubs to sell five PPV matches per season.

Although the new deal comes into play from the 24/25 season the PPV option becomes available immediately.

Celtic’s upcoming away matches at St Johnstone, Hearts and Livingston will be shown live on Sky Sports but the midweek trip to Motherwell on November 9 hasn’t been picked.

The new deal should allow Motherwell to sell direct to fans across the UK and Ireland, international subscribers to Celtic TV will already get the game on their package.

Included in the deal announced by the SPFL is:

All cinch Premiership clubs being able to sell Pay Per View streams within the UK and Ireland of up to five league home games per season, with immediate effect, subject to certain conditions including no matches during blocked hours.

A special resolution was passed yesterday by the SPFL on an 11-1 count. It seems very likely that the club from Ibrox didn’t vote in favour which could create an issue for the SPFL who recently had a stand off over the sponsorship deal with cinch.

Celtic will be able to sell five matches on PPV, Sky can show two more fixtures live this season having already screened the opener against Aberdeen and the Glasgow derby.
