Giorgos Giakoumakis is reported to have missed training for Greece today but remains in contention for a place against Northern Ireland on Tuesday.
Greece have already secured top spot and promotion from their Nations League group with 12 points from five matches but Gus Poyet seems to want the Celtic striker to remain with his squad.
With Celtic’s daunting fixture list coming up it would seem reasonable to return the striker to his club for rehab rather than pushing to play in a meaningless international match.
? Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis didn’t make training with the team today and he followed a personal programme. Unknown yet if he will be able to play v Northern Ireland on Tuesday ?@CelticFC #Celtic #CelticFC

Meanwhile on his Instagram account Gioakoumakis seemed to be training as normal.
So far the former VVV Venlo striker has only started two matches this season, against Ross County and Real Madrid, but is an essential part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
Ensuring that Kyogo Furuhashi and Giakoumakis are fit and available over the next six weeks could go a long way towards Celtic going into the World Cup break in a strong position domestically and in the Champions League.
