Reporters from the Guardian and Daily Mail tuned into social media coverage pf Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk tonight to find offence as the UK media wrapped itself in a blanket of patriotic sympathy.
As different media outlets try to outdo themselves in showing their support to the monarchy it seems that anyone not falling in line is immediately the subject of their anger and scrutiny.
While some clubs shamelessly wrap themselves up in patriotism it seems that anyone not following the media line is highlighted for abuse and criticism.
Shame on the Glasgow #Celtic fans who insulted #TheQueen at their match tonight. Among their foul abuse, they held up a banner praising the intruder who entered Her Majesty’s bedroom at Buckingham Palace. #royal pic.twitter.com/NI8Zx16cRI

Ewan Murray is a long established critic of Celtic supporters. The Guardian’s golf correspondent was at Dens Park in May 1986 and has forever been scarred by the experience, at any opportunity he will set his golfing brief aside to criticise Celtic fans.
Richard Eden of the Daily Mail isn’t known for avidly following Scottish football but seeing a half chance tonight he has gone for staunch points as print sakes of his newspaper decline month by month, year by year.
Forced grieving over a billionaire that never wanted for anything in her life. Or did a hard day’s work for that matter.
Totally agree, what a wonderful world those billionaires live in and worshipped for their hard work….Fking horseshit!
I wish our fans just support the team not all this rubbish we are better than this .
WE ARE MORE THAN A FOOTBALL CLUB peter
Correct Peter, our fans are great but in the eyes of the world at this particular time ie the queen’s death ,it doesn’t make us look very good, and we go on about the goons over at Ibrox.
They didn’t insult the Queen.. They wrote fuck the crown.. The anachronistic institution. Good on them.!
So sevco won the Queen mourning Cup ???
As the Italian’s say get it right up clyde wide jacksies and hun tears that then hammer there wives just another humping and a fine and a new boss a haundshaker at the helm
What about Herman Munster as the new boss and he can do his version of the monster sash the thing and the hairy thing could cause havoc at the cesspit.
How can you insult the Queen as she has passed away? Are they just making it up as they go along?
Shouldn’t that be ‘praising the intruder who entered Her Majesty in her bedroom at Buckingham Palace’ ?
Sorry, I’m not allowed to say that.
Shame on Richard Eden for believing a dead ninety six year old woman is in some way majestic! She is just another human being who happens to have influence because of her day-job! Among the foul crimes of her hereditary blood-line would be the subjugation and complicit annihilation of the Irish People, through famine and centuries of dominion. No-one voted for the Queen or her family. She ruled by force and dominion. Obviously not everybody is going to agree with that!
No good news at the Daily Mail! The paper today had five pages about the dead club’s drubbing and a couple about Celtics precious Away UCL point. Just a bunch of sad old losers or a “Load of Old Cobblers” as Mr. Steptoe Snr. used to put it!
