The Daily Record is still banging the drum for Leeds United signing Ryan Kent.

After his season on loan at Ibrox in season 2018/19, Leeds, then managed by Marcelo Bielsa, were credited with an interest in the Liverpool winger before he completed a permanent move to Ibrox for an alleged fee of £7m.

And so it has continued.

Last summer was the usual hype about keeping tabs and monitoring the situation, with Kent available at £10m Leeds opted to spend £25m signing Dan James from Manchester United.

With less than a year to run on his contract there is still virtually no interest in Kent. Earlier this week the Mail freshened up the template, desperately trying to generate transfer interest from Ibrox, the Record reports:

Long-term Leeds United target Ryan Kent could be rapidly moving up the Elland Road wish list with the Rangers winger one of the few live options remaining for the Premier League side.

Boss Jesse Marsch had been keen to add a wide player when deadline day kicked off and PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo topped the agenda, with director of football Victor Orta in the Netherlands on Wednesday as he looked to finalise a deal for the Dutch international.

However, reports suggest that the Eredivise side have shut the door on any summer exit with Southampton also seemingly keen on a move.

Marseille forward Bamba Dieng was plan B in Yorkshire, with a £10million move for the winger agreed as he prepared to arrive in England to rubber stamp a move. But that deal has now been hijacked by OGC Nice, with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reporting United have ended their interest in Dieng after his agent snubbed the deal while in the airport.

Tomorrow there will be a few stories about the great near misses, which is quite appropriate for the step-over specialist with less goals in the last year than Tony Ralston.

So basically, going by the DR headline, Kent would be a panic buy. Fits the picture for him, as he was a panic headline grabbing Sevco signing. 7 mil failure.

I will never understand Football Economics.

Bought for £7 million, constantly injured, doesn’t score many goals…so he’s now worth £10 million.

Sky Bet makes Rangers favourite to sign Barclay because Sky Sports says so.

Good way to fleece the gullible Huns again.
