It seems that football isn’t much of a priority for BBC Scotland reporters as they chase up news lines from media conferences.

On Tuesday Kheredine Idessane was in Warsaw looking for soundbites from Ange Postecoglou on the death of the head of the Commonwealth. The Celtic manager was focussed on getting his team prepared for a game of football against the champions of Ukraine.

Given the opportunity to discuss football matters today Tyrone Smith from BBC Scotland first asked Postecoglou his thoughts on a UEFA enquiry. Clearly frustrated the Celtic boss straight batted his answer.

Yeah, they’re opening an investigation, so…I’m not really sure what you expect me to say to that. If there’s an investigation, there’s an investigation, and then we’ll wait until that unfolds.

Asked about fan related issues taking attention away from an impressive performance the Celtic boss was equally dismissive.

Well, it depends on what you are reading or what you are listening to. My focus is on us as a football club, and the performance was really strong at the highest level of competition.

We’ve still got some growth to do as a football team in terms of playing at that level on a consistent basis. I was encouraged by our progress but also know that we need to keep improving in those areas. We’ll keep representing our football club in the best possible way.

The St Mirren match is followed by a royal funeral and three Scotland fixtures which should see the news focus blow over.

Celtic return to action on October 1 against Motherwell with a frantic schedule of matches through until November 12 that covers four Champions League fixtures before the break for the World Cup Finals in Qatar.
