Having tweeted at 12 noon that An Evening with Gascoigne and Laudrup would be going ahead as planned the organisers decided at 3.30pm to postpone the event.

The event at the SEC will be rescheduled with no refunds issued.

This morning the EPL, EFL and SPFL announced that the weekend football fixtures would be postponed despite the Test Match cricket between England and South Africa going ahead as well as a full card of Rugby League.

Any event involving Paul Gascoigne in Scotland is aimed at a certain type of audience. Discussing the 1990 World Cup Finals, his time with Lazio or the injury he sustained in the 1991 FA Cup Final are on the back burner as fans hope for the sort of songs that UEFA has banned from stadiums.

Football is expected to resume in midweek although it seems that the Ibrox club are lobbying for the postponement of their match on Tuesday at home to Napoli.

Top end meet and greet tickets for the Gazza event were priced at £160.
